Default N70 Firmware update

As most of are probably aware by now Nokia have finally sorted them selves out with the firmware uprades, you can download the software and do it yourself! it takes about 30-45 mins and it works out what network your with and then finds the latest firmware version for that network. I am on T-mobile and i have gon from v.2.something to v5.0609.2.0.1 .......thats a big jump, only problem is that it wipes your phone clean!

Now i learnt this the hard way you shoud back up your phone onto your PC and then copy ALL of your contacts onto the sim card, (i backed up the phone but it forgot my contacts and messages! ) once you have done this just restore to your phone and then copy the contacts back off of the sim. I have noticed a great decrease in the amount of time the phone takes to load menus and if you set the video recording to standard then it is alot less 'choppy' both on rec and playback, overall i would strongly suggest getting the firmware upgarde from here:

Enjoy!

The easiest way to back up before a firmware upgrade is to do so to the memory card then simply restore it back afterwards. That way even applications are restored flawlessly.

Ty for the T-Mobile N70 update! It's a great little utility, isn't it?

I downloaded the latest version of the updater over the weekend and this one seemed to work a bit better than the previous one. It recognised the phone correctly, downloaded the new rom and started updating.

The phone disconnected itself though at one point and when I tried rebooting it I thought I had bricked it. Cue 20 minutes trying to get the phone to reboot. Eventually it did and I now have a new uptodate N70 again. Sadly with the TMobile branding again but what can you do

Ah come on, it's not that bad. A bit pink for my taste but thats why you install other skins, like the Espresso Black skin from the nokia fashion phone. That one is quite nice and tasteful.
