I've not had any problems recently (on Voda) as long as I have a good 3g signal it seems to update quite happily (assuming there is something to update) Last virus definitions were updated 4/1/06.
I did have some wibbles when the signal dropped to 2G but I think that's just due to not handling the change properly. Using "Vodafone Internet" as an access point rather than Vodafone Live! seems to work best Symantec v 4.0.3.54 (options -> about) Voda firmware v 2.0539.1.1, 29-09-05 (still not updated ) Have vague memories that there was another thread about this some time ago - can't remember when though... aha here is is: https://talk3g.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1694&page=2 goes a bit off topic in places but the phone was new then and we were all a bit excited Last edited by Yssybyl : 30th January 2006 at 10:35 AM. My virus defs are the same date as yours, and it appears to download something when it scans for an update. I even rebooted the phone to give it a try and the same thing happens.
I'm at work so I get a "perfect" 3G signal on Voda. Firmware version: V 2.0539.1.2, 19-10-05 RM-84 Symantic Version: 4.0.3.54 |

How bizzare! If it's possible to uninstall/reinstall Symantec then I guess it'd be for the best. I use FSecure personally, as Nokia wern't in bed with Symantec when I got my 6680, which seems to look after itself without bothering me. There is a nominal fee for updates, though, pre-paid via their website.
