Cyanogen has released Test3 release of his v5.0.7 Android 2.1 Eclair ROM for the T-Mobile G1 (HTC Dream) and HTC Magic - here --> http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/index.p..._0entry26210

This is an awesome implementation of Android 2.1 by any standard. It really is that good. Breathing new life into the ageing T-Mobile G1 this ROM is fast even in its current Test3 beta release. But then Cyanogen is not known for releasing shoddy ROMs.

The earlier Test1 and Test2 ROMs did have a few teething issues, not the least being low battery life. But these are beta releases and the battery issue is now gone in release Test3.

This latest is very fast indeed, even on the stock CPU speed (I tend not to over-clock handsets given their atrocious battery life anyway, it is asking for trouble). I would say that it is even faster with this new Android than it was with the original and official Cupcake and Donut ROMs from HTC. Cyanogen knows his stuff and has the collaboration of a number of ace Android OS developers.

Most of all, enjoy
