tiles

Posted 7th April 2008 at 09:01 PM by 3g-g
I've just tiled my kitchen, with those stupid small mosaic tiles, I've done the grouting too.. dear lord I despise it. Never get married, it'll be one thing after the other that she decides she wants done!

Next is the floor. I've never tiled a floor before, so that should be an experience. A couple of friends have said I need to use a cement mixer, that should stop it from moving anywhere.

Now, where's my wine.

Tiles ? ....tiles ?? Don't get me started !!

The gym where I work , is about to move along two doors , we have just acquired a new building , a former Bathroom / Kitchen showrooom , and the net result is - I have spent the last week trying to knock down about 20 "mock ups" - made of stud walling , each on covered in tiles
Now, when this bathroom showroom got a new line of tiles in that they wanted to display - they simply put a new lot on top of the old tiles !!
Meaning my stud walls comprised of 1 layer of Ply , 1 layer of Gyproc , and then two or three layers of tiles !!
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW DIFFICULT THAT MAKES IT TO TAKE THEM DOWN ?
Whenever I put tiles up myself , a little tap with the hammer will knock about 5 tiles down - , yet in this place , if you belt the wall with a 3' sledge hammer , they just crack and stay firmly attached to the wall !! - how does that work ??
Amazing that I have spent all week knocking tiles down , while you are putting them up ! Quite a co-incidence eh ?

Oh dear lord.

Hats off to both of you. My idea of DIY is flicking through the yellow pages.
