The following settings are [independently] advised for use of the Jas Jar handset on the Vodafone UK network. For other networks find out the typical handset settings and make the appropriate changes to this script.

I am not able to validate this information but it is from a reasonably bona fide source.

The main Internet access settings are just below and should allow the Internet Access.

The middle settings are for basic phone WAP access but you must still enter this (although never directly used) this particular server or setting are and will be used by the Picture messaging facility (the last settings) as MMS is a variant service of WAP.

GPRS Web settings (The one that you want to set-up)

Connections >
Connections >
Under My ISP tap Manage Existing Connections and then Tap Edit (if this isn't present then tap 'Add a new modem connection')
Then Select a Modem drop-down box should be set to Cellular Line (GPRS)
Tap Next
Access Point Name: internet
Tap Next Username: web
Password: web
Domain: leave blank
Tap Advanced
On the TCP/IP tab, only Use Server-assigned IP Address should be selected
Tap the Servers tab Use Specific Server Addresses should be selected
DNS: 158.043.240.004
Alt DNS: 158.043.240.003
Tap OK
Tap Finish


GPRS WAP settings (You will not need this generally, but will still be required for MMS)

Start >
Settings >
Connections >
Connections >
Under My Work Network tap Manage Existing Connections and then
Tap Edit (if this isn't present then tap 'Add a new modem connection')
Then Select a Modem drop-down box should be set to Cellular Line (GPRS) Tap Next
Access Point Name: wap.vodafone.co.uk (for Prepay enter pp.vodafone.co.uk)
Tap Next
Username:wap (for Prepay enter wap)
Password: wap (for Prepay enter wap)
Domain: leave blank
Tap Advanced
On the TCP/IP tab, only Use Server-assigned IP Address should be selected
Tap the Servers tab Only Use Server-assigned Address should be selected Tap OK
Tap Finish
Tap Proxy Settings
Tap Advanced
In the WAP field enter 212.183.137.012
In the field to the right of this enter 8799 Tap OK and exit


MMS settings

Start >
Messaging >
Menu>
MMS Settings
Tick Retrieve Messages Immediately
Tick OK to download when roaming
Tick Save sent messages

Tap the Servers tab
Tap Vodafone UK (or whatever the GPRS WAP connection above is calledd)
Server Name: Vodafone UK, please see brackets above

Connect Via: My Work Network (this links to the GPRS WAP settings) Ensure that this logic applies

Sending Size Limitations: 100K
Tap OK twice to exit
