Default Why?

CAN I PUT MY THREE SIM INTO MY OLD GSM HANDSET ?

No - You may find it works for a short while , but within a few weeks Three will block the sim and send you a new one

how do they know what ohne youre using and why would they block it?

Im currently using a Motorola E1000, having changed networks and phone makers (orange & nokia) for over 6 years, to three recently im having a hard time liking my new phone so would like to change it to a basic 'no-frills' nokia.. but it appears that i cant/wont be able to unless i buy a 3G one (although the new nokia 6680 sounds like the battery will last a bit longer than the e1000! and beats the square nokia)

When you switch your phone on or do anything to connect your phone to the network it sends your phone IMEI (its you phone serial number). This is done by most networks to prevent stolen/blacklisted phones from being used. Dont know the reason why 3 want to stop non 3 phones from going on the network, but thats 3 for you.

If you are looking at the 6680 then go for it, its the best phone out their at present.

Neither the 6630 or the 6680 can be unlocked reliably by third party dealers. You need a special code that only the networks can provide to make these SIM Lock free.

None of the unlocking forums have had any unlocking solutions posted as yet.
