I'm tempted to get the update even though my unbranded handset doesn't really have any problems... but if it makes things worse then I'm screwed! I'll let all you branded folks try out the various flavours of the update first, I think

My 6680 doesn't have any problems either, except the fact that its on 3 All the problems described on that page don't occur on my 6680 anyway, and i have the version they claim they are upgrading from now upgrading to.

Flashed the wife's 6680 this morning. She hasn't experienced any of the problems, but then she uses the phone instead of playing with it! There's no 3 variant yet, only Orange & Voda so I don't know if any service centres will flash a 3 handset?

I just went for the standard Euro1 config, which has turned it into a 'generic' handset with all the menu options. Couldn't get Phoenix to backup the phone, so might be worth using PC Suite before you head to a service point.

Defaultfirmware

I forgot to check my old 6680 firmware, but I went to the Nokia Service Centre and they update my 6680 to V2.04.15 04-03-05-RM36. Actually I have no problem with the old one and the updated one works smoothly as well. One thing that's different is, I found is the ISP icon on the main menu is not there anymore.

My Vodafone 6680 has v3.04.11. It has crashed once though and refused to make calls after connecting to multiple BT connections. I turned the BT off and the phone reset.

I may be looking then, I had loads of problems with my 6630. I am really pleased with my 6680 and I have had no issues to complain about.

You may just have a dodgy one

Once the code is completed, it goes through testing & is then released to the factory. It takes a bit longer to add all the operator specifics, package it up & release it to the service points.

Default6680 firmware

I am from Malaysia. I went to update my firmware because I read somewhere in the forum that it was version 3, but according to the list Nokia showed me was the number I got. It was slightly larger than my previous version. I guess we get update later in this part of the world. I updated the phone because the list showed me a number larger than the one I got and that I hated the ISP logo right in the centre of the screen. I always inadventently press the button and it went into that ISP's website.

Latest I've seen is 3.04.37 (02-06-05) which hasn't been released yet, so looks like you've got a very recent version.

So the one nightmare99 refers to is the latest firmware
