Thumbs up Vodafone slashes Data Charges

From biosmagazine.com 30/09/2005:

Vodafone UK has simplified its price plans for customers of its Mobile Connect 3G/GPRS data card by streamlining its data price plans to just three pricing options. The decision, which is in response to eighteen months of customer analysis, is designed to free mobile workers from 'data clock watching'.

The three price plans are as follows: Vodafone Data 250, at a cost of £25 per month, is designed for users who require access to the Internet or company intranet on a regular basis; Vodafone Data Unlimited at £45 per month is designed especially for users who need to frequently exchange or download large files while out of the office.

And Vodafone Data Travel at £95 per month is a specially designed tariff for regular international travellers offering an additional 100MB of data for use when out of the country (customers also benefit from unlimited data downloads while in the UK).

Paul Stonadge, head of enterprise data services, Vodafone UK said: 'Since we launched the UK's first 3G data card in April 2004, we have been monitoring how our customers have been using the card. These simple to understand tariffs make the costs of using the card as transparent as possible while continuing to offer the best 'out of the office' data experience to mobile workers.'

Vodafone UK has 15.5 million customers and is part of the world's largest mobile community. Following the launch of Vodafone UK's Mobile Connect 3G/GPRS data card in April 2004, the company launched Vodafone live! 3G in November 2004 offering services such as video-calling and music downloads. Vodafone's 3G UK population coverage currently stands at 65 per cent and the network is being continually expanded.

I assume the £45 on Vodafone's connect card will be unlimited subject to a fair usage policy of 1GB - and if so that's great considering Three's tariff only buys half that. I just wish Vodafone would make these tariffs available on their handsets.

So tempted to get the £25/month one and give it a try...
