The King is back, oh baby.

1. HTC wildfire s batteries really don't last.
2. Why is it so expensive to phone from a UK cell to a Euro cell? It's the 21st century. I racked up #208 in one month calling a Latvian cell.
3. 3, trying to help, got me onto the HTC so I could use Skype. Would it improve its quality if I used WiFi instead of the 3 signals?

TIA,
Your absent Elvis

Well hello! :D

Crazy isn't it. My partner calls Spain a lot, bills were regularly around £400 until I set the iPhone up with Skype. They use WiFi and it's fantastic... but of course that's no guarantee that the Wildfire will be just as good.

Technically speaking you should get better latency and bandwidth on WiFi so yeah I think it's going to help :)

I'd suggest having a look at Tango also, if you're considering Skype. Worth playing with both if you're interested in alternatives.

Android battery life is really conditioned by what is running in the background. It sort of depends on which operator branding you choose, some have permanent backgrounded apps that you cannot shut down, constantly talking to network resources and therefore draining the battery disproportionately from a stock "factory issue" version of the OS. Personally, when I buy an Android the first thing I do is check to see if there is a Cyanogen ROM version of Android for it and plonk that on instead.

I don't know about Three but Orange are the worst offenders with that shenanigans. A ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco) that I bought a while back came with at least three un-stoppable apps that constantly polled the network. Battery life almost doubled by putting vanilla Android (CM7) on the device.
