Hi,
this is my first post. I have recently got a smartphone and I have 200 free minutes, but I know I won't use them all to call anyone here as I have moved in the uk not long ago so don't have friends yet. I would like to call my family and I thought of this: if I send a uk sim to my sister in Italy, can I call her using my free uk minutes as the number I call would be a uk one? Or would she be charged for the incoming call?
It's just an idea; it looks like they have cheap rates to call landlines abroad, but I'd like to make use of my free minutes in some way
Thanks in advance:D

You are right in assuming if you sister had a UK SIM she would be charged for incoming calls as, in effect, she would be roaming. The calls to that number would come out of your inclusive allowance.

Depending which network you are on you may be able to get some sort of additional bolt on which would allow cheaper calls to your home country

No you can't use your free minutes to call back in Italy as 3 mobile UK have stopped the option a long time back. You best option is to consider the rolling sim only deals from 3.
