One feature of the new S40 phones launched today that deserves extra attention is the provision of free Nokia Maps, allowing a much wider range of people to make use of the service, without incurring heavy data charges. This new service offers a significant boost to the capabilities of Series 40 phones, further blurring the lines between smartphones and feature phones.
hold on, is it 2008?
Some phones with Nokia Maps S40 support: Nokia 6300i, 6600 classic, 6600 slide, 3600 slide
and lets remember the Nokia 2710 Navigation Edition, released December 2009.
Hardly a new feature is it Nokia?

Today we see the launch of a new Series 40-powered feature phone, the Nokia C2-03. Combining Dual-SIM functionality with Touch and Type technology, this new phone is perfect for people who want to combine their separate needs into one single device.
translation: Touch and Type technology, for people who want to touch and type on a single device. Ah, that explains why it's called Touch and Type.
Should you have more than two SIM cards, the Nokia C2-03 is capable of remembering the settings for up to five separate cards
anyone carry more than one sim card?
If it’s storage you’re after, then this phone has 10MB in memory which is expandable up to huge 32GB.
hopefully a memory card is provided, as I dont see Nokia Maps working offline on 10MB of internal memory.
Mary McDowell, the head of Nokia’s Mobile Phones business unit, explains why all these features have been included in the Nokia C2-03:
Why should consumers have to choose between touch and keypad, or forego a great web, map, entertainment or email experience?
and then:
the Nokia C2-03 sees the return of the slide phone, with the touchscreen covering the keypad. Because this phone is a Touch and Type device, you can perform certain actions on the screen then slide the screen up to reveal the keypad underneath, all with one hand.
consumers have to choose between touch and keypad because you made it a slide phone...
S40 presentation was very weak, massive screen behind the presenter that was never used. You almost felt that at one point she was going to show you how to make a phone call...
