Orange today announced the launch of a dedicated Orange TV channel to present exclusive footage from this years Glastonbury Festival. As part of the TV-on-the-mobile service, streamed over the 3G network, Orange customers will be able to access festival footage including artist interviews, festival life, and music experiences from the event, from their Orange 3G handsets.
Glastonbury TV is available through the new Orange TV section on Orange World, which launched in May, on the Nokia 6680 3G handset. Customers not using an Orange 3G handset can also get a slice of the festival action, with downloadable clips from the event all available from Orange World.
Julien Diment, Head of Brand and Commercial Partnerships at Orange said, This is the fifth year of our partnership with Glastonbury and the launch of a dedicated Glastonbury TV channel on Orange is a unique and exciting way to build on what we already offer to music fans on Orange. With demand for tickets growing every year, the new channel allows more people to enjoy Glastonbury and clearly demonstrates the exciting capabilities and potential of Orange TV.
*Orange TV will initially be available on the Nokia 6680 from Orange, with further handsets to follow throughout the year. Customers simply download the TV application for free from Orange World, then pay a subscription of £10 per month to watch the channels.
Glastonbury Orange TV will feature a minimum of six short films, as well as a webcam timelapse sequence shot, showing the site build up at the 2005 Glastonbury festival.
Orange TV comes as part of the Orange 3G package on the Nokia 6680, which gives customers the chance to try new services for free. New 3G customers can watch the Orange TV channels free for three months and they can access the service using their free 1GB-per month Try data bundle. After 3 months, customers sign up to a £10-per month subscription which gives them access to the Orange TV channels. The subscription includes 1GB of data exclusively for use with the TV service. (1GB gives customers about 20 hours of viewing time.)
