I cannot unlock the keypad on the phone, and when i try and connect it to my computer usb is not recognised. Any ideas?

Is there any hardware based reset available? If not you could try leaving the battery out for a while... doesn't sound good, though, you may need a repair.

There is a format, in which you hold up on the d pad and turn the phone on, im then given two options: Press 1 for format and reboot
Press 2 to exit.

Nor 1 or 2 buttons do anything, and to get this menu off i have to take the battery out.

That doesn't look good :( Perhaps more serious than a software issue anyway. Not that I'd really know! If it's under warranty I'd probably give Samsung a ring :)

Do you know whether it is start and * to unlock the keypad, ive had it unlocked once but i was just pressing every button on the phone.

Google says 'press three different keys' - I assume at the same time. Seems to be any three!
