I am considering using my Vodafaone number , but couldn't remember how many free texts I had bundled with my account, so logged into "my account" to find out .
Not sure why , but I thought I'd look around the service while I was there , and notice that that I had used 6mb of data allowance , here is one page of itemisation

Yeah , so what , you are probably asking ?

Well , My HTC magic has not been powered up for months, .... and the SIM card is sitting on my mantlepiece , where it has been since well before Xmas !!

Any ideas how it is running up data usage from there ?

Well, the truth is that there is absolutely no way that your SIM can run up usage while sitting on the mantlepiece. Unless, that is, your mantlepiece is really an old 3 NEC 3G mobile phone. They'd be roughly the same size and that. And I suppose you could easily get the two mistaken for the other.

Failing that, I'd make a call in to Vodafone CS, during the English working day, and see what they have to say.

Silly innit,

mmm , I was thinking a CS call would be in order , but I envisage it means I'll be sat on the phone for 20 minutes confirming my identity 100 times just to be told " they've made a mistake" - it hasn't cost me anything (yet !!) so I can't see them taking it seriously or compensating me

Lets face it , Vodafone messing up billing is far from headline news !

I remember I had an issue with MMS a while back and it was rectified by email , so I'll try that

Mhm. Email, or twitter. Today I tweeted them about a cell outage and they tweeted right back - MUCH better. They're on Facebook, too.

I reckon this is pretty serious, you're owed a full explanation of how these impossible usage details have appeared on your bill! Be angry!

Either is good - although I think that the eForum team are really on the money whereas their general CS can be a bit variable. If you Tweet to them and they respond they'll take the conversation across to email probably and you're in good hands then...
