Got a Galaxy?
"Samsung HQ are currently not supporting a migration path to upgrade Galaxy to Android 2.0. Samsung UK continue to push for this but confidence on the change is low as Samsung HQ will be launching new devices on Android 2.0 in Q1."
From O2, today.

The Samsung Galaxy, you may already know, is their first Android handset that also sports their first AMOLED display. Quite an exciting mix of technology in a very capable handset.

But soon after its arrival the Android community started getting its teeth into the product. The rot started to show. The future for this handset looked bleak, by that I mean fixed, with no prospect for it keeping up with Android OS versions as other manufacturer's handsets have to date, HTC most notably.

It seems that Samsung are not going to play ball then, if the findings of the Android community as well as O2 itself are anything to go by. In typical far Eastern style new product is brought out to take advantage of the new Android 2.0 OS (possibly not even 2.0.1) and the Galaxy buyer can go to hell or buy the latest handset. This is all very well if prices for these devices are in pennies, but they're not. All those poor old O2 customers who bought into the Galaxy are not stuck with their 18 or 24 month contracts with a handset that will not keep up with Android releases. Their choice? Put up and shut up, or buy SIM-free if they want the newer Android.

I know one thing for certain, and that is Samsung will not be seeing any of their mobile phone products in this household. Not with that policy towards its customers.
