The article is thin on details - any idea what's going on?

Looks like they're selling it on O2, probably on the existing iPhone tariffs, like CPW do: http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/11/25/tesco_iphone/

I'd imagine handset displays etc will still be mandatory. Could be interesting.

It's going to be on Tesco Mobile's own tariffs allegedly (02 is their network provider).

Has the Apple iPhone found it's level next to the baked beans and tins of spam? I recall Levi Strauss went to the European Court to prevent Tesco from selling their jeans as they considered it damaged their brand value. (They won the case).

What makes this hysterical is that T-Mobile and 3 have been beaten to it by Tesco. Perhaps an indication of just how aggresive Tesco intend to be in the telecoms market.

Could their next move be buying a network? (No prizes for guessing which one might be available at a bargain basement price!)

Not that hard to beat 3 and T Mobile to it though, when you consider Tesco mobile is a 50/50 venture with O2, who already had the iPhone.
