The basic problem is that Jailbroken iPhones have a default SSH password of "alpine" which this worm exploits. The key to securing up your iPhone, whether or not you use SSH is to change the password.

A short and simple method is shown on this blog here --> http://www.the-iblog.com/2008/11/24/tip-change-your-iphones-ssh-password/

Not a virus. Not even a good worm. Pathetic the way the media has misrepresented this in their headlines - this story should not even be news outside the Jailbreak community!

Scaremongering? The media? Naaah...

I think the salient warning is that the default SSH password is "alpine" and needs to be changed by anyone who has jailbroken their handset, or make sure that the SSH daemon (sshd) is disabled.

Me? Paranoid? You bet'cha :D

Best non virus ever, I'd even go as far as giving it the awesome vote. Anything that relentlessly changes your lock screen to a picture of Rick Astley while rick rolling you with a Rick themed jibe, well that gets the thumbs up from me. [insert thumbs up smiley] :D

I'm almost suspicious enough to think that Apple may have released the code themselves in order to show that, although their SW is being JBd as quick as they get it out there, they can still mess with the phone itself!

Obviously I have no proof of this, Mr Lawyer firm, it's merely an observation! ;)
