iChrisTaylor (http://twitter.com/iChrisTaylor) tweeted one of O2's text messages pushing iPhone users to make use of the handset's WiFi capabilities both when at home and out and about. The motivation for this would appear to be that they want to reduce the load on their network.
I've just taken a look at the Cellular Network Data usage on my iPhone 3GS. I've got 32MB sent, and 105MB received - Last Reset: Never.
This is a shockingly small amount of data considering how much I use my iPhone and the unlimited data plan!
Therefore the vast majority of my data usage is going over WiFi.
If iPhone users collectively disabled WiFi, would O2's data network crumble? Perhaps we should set up a "No WiFi" day to find out ;)
