Here is some brief information on setting up PAYG iPhones for MMS and Mobile Internet after updating to firmware 3.0
If you're a Pay & Go customer and have downloaded the iPhone OS 3.0 Software, you'll need to change your iPhone APN (data) settings. This will get features like mobile internet and picture messaging (MMS) working. Details below.
If you're a Pay Monthly customer but don't have the iPhone Bolt On, or a specific iPhone tariff, then you won't be able to get the full iPhone experience.
Here's what you'll need to do:
1. From the main screen of your iPhone tap Settings > General > Network
2. Under Cellular Data Network
For Pay & Go customers. Tap APN and change idata.o2.co.uk and enter payandgo.o2.co.uk (Please note that "o2" needs to be written with a letter "o" and not a zero)
For Pay Monthly customers. Tap APN and change idata.o2.co.uk and enter mobile.o2.co.uk (Please note that "o2" needs to be written with a letter "o" and not a zero)
You don't need to change your username and password
3. Ignore the Visual Voicemail APN box - it's not available to Pay & Go customers or Pay Monthly customers (with a non iPhone tariff)
4. Under MMS
For Pay & Go customers. Tap APN and change idata.o2.co.uk and enter payandgo.o2.co.uk (Please note that o2 needs to be written with a letter o and not a zero)
For Pay Monthly customers. Tap APN and change idata.o2.co.uk and enter wap.o2.co.uk (Please note that o2 needs to be written with a letter o and not a zero)
You don't need to change your username and password
5. Turn your iPhone off and on again
6. If you're a Pay & Go iPhone customer, using your iPhone sim for the first time, you'll need to top up by at least £10.
