Nokia is making a similar investment to Sony Ericsson, recruiting 20 retail advisors to hit the shop floor and train store staff on its latest handsets. The advisors will be split into two teams of ten, serving the north and south.
Nokia communications director Mark Squires (left), said: Were offering them to train any retailers who want to know about our new products or want advice and point-of-sale material.
The move is a bid to help retailers better understand Nokias huge range, said Squires. We want to get out there and support the trade. Weve got a big range of phones and we dont expect people to range all 38 handsets. Its about letting people know what the range is.
Asked about the cost of running the 20-strong team, Squires said: Its not cheap, but its worth it to support the channel.
The staff will be employed by field marketing company CPM.
