Just a few hours after Nokia lumped the goodness of the Ovi Store and E Series smartphones upon us another gem has snuck out. The latest edition to the N Series, the 'N86' goes up against the industry's major camera phones being the Finn's first eight megapixel shooter.
For a first time effort, the N86 gets two out of three right too with a Carl Zeiss lens (tick), autofocus (tick) and a dual LED flash (doh). Still, the S60 3rd Edition handset will be Ovi Store friendly, sports a 2.6in OLED display, WiFi, GPS, 8GB of internal memory (plus 16GB supporting microSDHC slot), TV-out and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The usual audio and video codecs also get their day in the sun minus - somewhat disappointingly - DivX/Xvid and at 103.4 x 51.4 x 16.5mm and 149g Nokia clearly hasn't got its first 8MP handset into quite the same svelte shape as LG and Samsung. Talk time also isn't anything to *cough* talk about at 3.9 hours using 3G though audio and video playback are a more satisfying 7 hours and 25 hours respectively.
