Just got this mail from Mobileme
Dear MobileMe Member,
Apple has identified and resolved an issue that caused an incorrect, temporary authorization hold of 121 GBP to be placed on your credit or debit card when your MobileMe trial account was created. We have addressed the issue and want to apologize for any inconvenience.
Typically when you create a new trial account, your credit or debit card is verified by authorizing a small charge (equivalent to USD $1). Unfortunately, an error caused the incorrect amount to be preauthorized for your card. Be assured that this is not a charge, but only an authorization hold. The hold is released by the card-issuing bank after a predetermined period, usually between a week and a month. Where possible, Apple is working to have these holds removed earlier.
To show our appreciation for your continued loyalty, we have extended your free trial period by 30 days. This extension is in addition to the 30-day extension of which you were notified on July 16, for a total of 120 days of free MobileMe service.
Look for the extension to be reflected in your account settings in the next few weeks. You may now enjoy MobileMe free of charge until 08/11/08, after which your annual paid subscription will begin.
Thank you for being a MobileMe customer.
Sincerely,
The MobileMe Team

Was it anyone else or Just me ?

I think everyone got the same email. Maybe the service will eventually become free!

Yup - I got one!
I did think it strange as my 'actual balance' & my 'available balance' on my debit card were way out and I hadn't bought anything!
Anyone's MobileMe accounts been updated yet to reflect the extra month?
EDIT -- Just checked, I've got three months now!

Never buy anything with a debit card online. Ever. Period :D
Credit card users will have been 99% unaffected by the large authorisation. Things like this happen all too often, unfortunately - Dell did it to me in the past once for a computer, I'll never make that mistake again.

Personally I don't have a credit card - Debit card only for me these days. If I ain't got the money in the bank then I can't have it! :-)

Still getting problems TBH ,
All my icons now read "Mobileme" , and I have downloaded the the software updates
Here is an example of what seems to happen
1) I added an event to my iPhone yesterday morning at around 11am
2) Checked my macbook calender when later on (around 17.00 , no event ! - looked at the mobileme panel under system preferences , it was set to "automatically" , and said that the last sync was 9 minutes ago (16.51)
3) I force a sync using the "sync now" option from the taskbar - lo and behold , the event appears
....Makes me wonder if I would be better off simply docking the iPhone and saving £60 PA !! ( oh wait , I can't find a dock ! )

I'm having problems as well.
Basically my iphone and mobile me have my contacts as I want them, but the mini wont sync the contacts at all from the remote side. This seems to be a well documented (http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1269) problem.
Also, I created a calendar entry online with mobile me, the mac mini synced it, but the iphone does't have it.
All in all, I'm not that impressed with the service. Call it teething problems, but I really am finding it hard to justify even using the service when its free.

They're certainly still having problems. A friend of mine is one of the unfortunate 1% who still has no email whatsoever - not even on me.com
Fortunately everything is rosy for me still at the moment, other than for a brief period of no email on Monday.
Things will settle down and Apple will make it right. While we should continue to bitch about this awful product launch and transition, we should bear that in mind.

Those of you having trouble with Push to the iPhone should make absolutely sure they set up MobileMe on the iPhone last. If you change anything in the Mac Preferences panel for .Mac or MobileMe you need to remove and redo the iPhone setup.
This is not made clear enough on Apple's docs anywhere.

Cheers Handson !
Just checked the Mobileme settings on my iPhone and it was set to ONLY sync mail ! not sure how this occoured , it was certainly not set up like this initially, and as I mentioned earlier , it synced a calender event last night when I forced it to !
Very strange ! I deleted the account and set it up again , all seems OK now :D

No matter what I do address book will not sync with mobileme. To be honest I'm not that bothered by it, what concerns me is that if I don't buy mobileme, then my contacts on the phone will be up the left. Hopefully apple will resolve the issue in the next few weeks or months!

The fault is likely to be something in your set-up rather than MobileMe. One suggestion that worked for me on Tiger was to search for and delete all .plist files containing "dotmac". The .plist files get recreated automatically. Worth a try if odd behavior on a system that may have some legacy .Mac or failed MobileMe installs.

I brought a .mac account 3 days before the change over to mobileme. For the first week of the iphone everything worked fine, but it seems to have been dead over the last week.
So what I did to get round it all is just set up a free trial on another credit card I have, and synced my mac to the free trial account. Everything works fine, I'm getting my mail and my contacts have synced.
Once they fix my paid for account I shall switch back and cancel the trial.
Bit of a hastle I know, and some people may not have two debit/credit cards to be able to do this, but it's worth pointing out that it's possable if needed :D

Ok, I now have mobileme syncing contacts, but only after I deleted all on the server side and re synced. This meant manually changing contacts on the desktop that I had changed earlier on the iphone and/or mobileme.
Not ideal, but it'll have to do. I wonder what will happen when I add a contact on the phone now, will it magically break mobileme again?

Only one way to find out!
Mine's working really well whether I add a new contact on the phone or on any one of my Macs, so there's hope for you yet.

I've got to admit, I really love MobileMe - To start it was a pain. But works so well.. if I need to Sync quickly from the Mac to MM/iPhone, I do a manual sync, it's no big deal really.. and just having things more or less instant on your push devices is great!
