Probably a little premature - but I'm still not sure which route to go. We still don't know the official PAYG details...

I'm a bit of a contract snob. I just find that I prefer post-pay. I don't like the thought that I could 'run out' of credit when I'm doing something important.
In the real world, PAYG is fine - and indeed preferred to contracts the world over AFAIK.
So, contract for me.

Contract here because I'm getting 02 broadband at a discount when I sign up for the iPhone contract. My monthly BB costs go down from £12.50 to £7.50.. saving a fiver a month..
Was thinking about PAYG for a long time but the initial cost of £350 odd is a lot to stomach not even thinking about monthly top up costs for calls, texts etc.. then £10 a month for mobile data.. Definitely the way for unlocking etc should that be all figured out but I'm not really too bothered about unlocking so am offsetting the cost of the initial outlay with a monthly contract.

I'm leaning more towards contract - Again, I hate the thought of running out of credit. Haven't had PAYG for a while now..
so I think *probably* contract for me. :o

I am already on an O2 contract for the iPhone 2G and so for me this would be an upgrade and renewal of contract. But generally, I would not normally consider PAYG because of the expense to use it. For sure, PAYG has very practical uses and suit some down to the ground. But its just not for me.

I am going contract just because I prefer to know that I have data, and voice and I know I'm not going to go over my limits. Funny thing is I'm going to have two contracts running paying out £65 pm (£30 tmobile and £35 for the iphone) just because I want the iphone now and don't want to wait!

I had 3 months left with Tmob and ended up paying £120 early termination.. and not caring one bit!

Nobody interested in unlocking and sticking an existing sim in? Or is this a pie in the sky idea?

Not really because the unlimited data is a pretty compelling offer and I also get discounted monthly home broadband through having an 02 contract..

Plus I think most of us want Visual Voicemail. It's easier to stick with O2... and those 9000 hotspots.

Definitely not pie in the sky idea - the unlockers will be there within days of V2.0 being released, they've had a head start courtesy of the SDK. Most reputable is Zibri's Ziphone http://www.ziphone.org/
