Changes to your bill - VideoTalk &Text 700

From 3rd July 2008, any calls lasting 60 seconds or less will be rounded up to a minute. After the first minute, you’ll get charged for the rest of the call per second. There’s no change for calls made before 3rd July 2008, but calls of less than 60 seconds made from 3rd July onwards will be rounded up to one minute.

· This means your first bill after the change may include calls rounded up to one minute and some calls (made before 3rd July) that aren't.

· The usage summary on your bill will show the rounded-up number of minutes for that month.

· This only currently affects Video Talk and Text 700, Mix and Match plans and Pay As You Go Flat12.

Our price plans remain extremely competitive and we offer a host of extras, including free calls to Skype users anywhere in the world from your 3 mobile. You can also stay in control of your bills quickly and easily with My3. My3 is a free service that's available online and on your mobile. You can keep up-to-date with what you've spent this month, pay bills, see what price plan you're on, and much more.

10. Ending this agreement and Disconnection of 3 Services
Pay Monthly Customers
10.1 You may end this agreement in the following ways:

1. In certain circumstances under our Returns Policy. You may need to get in touch with 3 Customer Services to arrange Disconnection.
2. You can end the agreement during your Minimum Term (if you have one this will be stated in your Price Plan) by giving notice to 3 Customer Services at least 30 days before the date you want to end the agreement. However, you must pay us all the Charges you owe, plus any Cancellation Fee for your Price Plan (as set out in the Price Guide).
3. On 30 days' notice, outside the Minimum Term. You can end the agreement if your Price Plan does not contain a Minimum Term, or if you want to end the agreement at the end of your Minimum Term or any time after your Minimum Term has expired, provided you give notice to 3 Customer Services at least 30 days before the date you want to end the agreement. (A Cancellation Fee will not be charged.)
4. Within one month of a detrimental variation to your agreement. You can end the agreement within one month of us telling you about a variation to your agreement (which includes your Price Plan) which is likely to be of detriment to you. You must give written notice to 3 Customer Services within that month and your agreement will finish at the end of that month once we receive your notice. (A Cancellation Fee will not be charged.)

I'm on this tariff and I'm trying to cancel, sent email asking for PAC, lets see what else I can get.

I remember 3 introducing this on Mix & Match tariffs late in 2007 so I suspect only a few early buyers of those plans will be subject to the new conditions.

Absolutely correct re the right to cancel. Any change that is detrimental to a customer opens the door to a cancellation although contract holders only have 30 days to challenge the new terms after which they are deemed as having been accepted.

Isn't that a rather old tariff? I only ask because I would expect anyone on it to be beyond their minimum term (12 or 18 months).

This would not be the first time that 3 left themselves open to the Detrimental Terms get-out. I have no recollection of any other UK mobile network operator doing this, although they all have similar escape clauses that favour the customer in such circumstances.

Looks like Three are starting to plug some old gaps. Perhaps this is, at least in part, influenced by their exorbitant termination rates falling out from under them?
