Things really are getting unbelievable in the SIM-only market.

I was about to ditch Vodafone which I had for my lad on a £15 225mins/100sms as he was forever going over on his texts but under on his voice. I had started to warm up to O2's Simplicity 200 X/Net Mins + 400 SMS for £15. Just before I placed the order I took one final look at Vodafone's website and saw the new tariff appear. One very short phone call later and he was sorted.

I could probably get on just fine with T-Mobile's 400 X/Net minutes + Unlimited SMS for £20. I am stuck on contracts until end of 2008 at the earliest. If things go on like this at least one of the contracts are going to disappear. With a pair of N95s (T-Mob and Vodafone) the world is my oyster (as they say).

Hi
Its worth noting that O2 tarrifs include video minutes classed as voice minutes and MMS as 4 texts all from your allowance.
I think the others charge extra for these.
Also believe Virgin do 100 mins/400 texts for a tenner if you are already with them.

Yes, you are right that it is only O2 who tariff Video minutes the same as Voice. At least they are the only network playing the honest game. It costs no more to the network to transport Video as it does Voice on a 3G network.

Is that going to stay regarding the vidoe minutes?

If it is I'm definitely moving.

I can't see O2 changing that, it is a definite competitive edge if you're into that sort of thing. They always said that it would be promotional, and even at one time suggested a date when it would be stopped and match other operators (i.e. 50p to 60p per minute). But that never happened, and I don't even see any reference to it being a promotional tariff anymore! My suspicion is that other networks will follow in time, but not until it becomes headline.
