Well, I'm sure you all wondered where I was last week!

In Belle Plagne (http://www.la-plagne.com/en/belle-plagne.phtml) skiing (or at least learning!). Naturally I had my phone (and got a great 3g signal, not that I made any use of it!) with me and three let me know exactly how much calls / sms / mms would be. I think it was 25ppm calling and 15ppm receiving. I can live with that. sms and mms are both 25p. The shocker, £3 per MB for data. This has been discussed on here, but I mean, come on. That's about 4 pages on bbc news for about £3. Pathetic.

Three are one of the better service providers abroad, especially when you consider 3 at home, but really the networks need to offer some sort of holiday bundles for data. If they offered something like a £10 per 100MB of data, bolt on while roaming I'm sure many people would snap it up.

Oh I completely agree, the data charges abroad are ridiculous. Europe will act to stem them in the same way it did call charges.

Even with Vodafone's excellent concept of a tariff for overseas, I was still caught out (https://talk3g.co.uk/showthread.php?t=4655). There's just no transparency in the pricing model.

Prices should head south in 2008... time is running out for the networks to make a go of mobile data access, both at home and abroad.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

Oh it appears that the " Chuckle Brothers " are not the only ones up the hill, being paid to much, when one can go of roaming for a week in the snow!!

Ah, the joys of skiing. Thankfully due to low cost airlines, skiing is not as expensive as it once was.

As for getting paid too much, well you can never be paid too much ;)
