Firstly, I'm sure this topic is not specific to the N95, but that's what I use :p

OK, now some of you will remember that I advocate this use of Mobipocket Reader (http://www.mobipocket.com/en/DownloadSoft/application.asp?device=SymbianOs), but lately I've become some what distracted by it. You see the problem is that you have to connect to your pc to get the rss feeds to update. This isn't really a problem, more of a hassle. The reader itself is very good and I like it.

However, I'm lazy and I don't want to connect to my pc to get the updates :D I want mobireader to connect to the internet all by itself! But alas, it wont and apparently an update is due this year. But I can't wait.

Along comes google reader.

Now, I'm not familiar with this particular google offering, but they have a mobile version and so this afternoon (yawn) I packed google reader up with all my rss feeds. I've had a quick look at it from the N95 and it's seems pretty good.

Now, what do you guys do? Does anyone read rss feeds on their mobile? Ideally, I want a client that will quietly download data in the background so that when I want to read some headlines, I wont have to rely on a 3g connection.

NetNewsWire on the Mac, sync with Newsgator & view at http://m.newsgator.com. So I never read the same things twice.

Cheers guys. You know I think I had mippin, didn't you send me the beta invite? Anyway, I didn't like it at first and didn't give it a chance. It looks better now.

2 things go against NetNewsWire. 1 it's on a mac and I haven't got mine  yet and 2 you have to pay for it! It does look good though, may give the free trial a whirl.

Re: Mippin, (I'm really going to show my ignorance here) is it like mobizines, but browser based? I'm going to dig my account out and try it.

Mippin is the last thing I worked on before I left Refresh Mobile.
Yes there is Mobizine content in there...

Type http://m.totalfilm.com into your browser and you'll see..

But they are SO MUCH more than that now - what with their social network integration, the sharing functionality, the favourite sites, the catalogue available etc...

Plus - obviously having inroads there myself - I was able to beta test their new 'mipp-maker' stuff...

Check out http://m.spinvox.com to see my results!

But yeah - ex-company loyalty aside - they've got a sound product and a great vision/roadmap.

Two points of interest: 1) Their blog on http://blog.mippin.com and

2) Hit 'play' on this screen: http://mippin.com/app/faces/jsp/mippin.xhtml to hear the last ever thing I did before I left...

NetNewsWire Lite is free (whenever you actually get your Mac....!) and so is an account at Newsgator.

I wasn't sure you were talking about the lite version.

Thanks.

And cheers whatleydude!

Just to update: Mippin is rather good, pretty nippy too, especially over WLAN.

And NetNewsWire (http://blog.wired.com/monkeybites/2008/01/newgator-gives.html) is now free!

For anyone interested I'm using google reader now. Mippin just has too many clicks to get the full story.
