Hardly surprising really - Apple and O2 have introduced a completely new paradigm of mobile sale into the UK market and it has met with lukewarm reception. The technicalities of the iPhone itself are not without much discussion and criticism. None of this bodes well for the iPhone nor the relationship between the two corporations.
Do Apple really care if there are so many being unlocked and registered on other networks? I wouldn't have thought so. The iPhone is a legend in its own time. Quite a feat for an item of hardware!
Sales of the Apple iPhone appear to be slowing with analysts blaming the combination of the high cost of the handset and the relatively poor value of the tariffs and music downloads.
Figures obtained from GSM Exchange show that there is brisk trading on unlocked iPhones, with the handset that is supposed to be sold only through O2 and Carphone top of the charts. There were 4,500 registered iPhones on Vodafone alone three weeks ago.
