Don't you believe it!!

This is the tale from one German lad

Well it’s the same here in Germany. The so called hype sold 10.000 iPhones on the first day. Uhm , OK that’s (statistically on the 82 million Germans) just 1/7 of the USA sales. And that’s bad. Apple made a big mistake by choosing T-Mobile. The tariffs are unbelievable expensive: 2 year contract 50 Euro a month with only 100 free minutes and 40(!!) SMS? Well that’s the truth. And worst thing: every next minute will cost 39 Euro-Cent!! To remember: at a 2 year contract. [Feck!! Ed.]

A lot of people will buy their iPhone unlocked in France and take another company like O2, BASE or whatever.

Ouch, that's a pretty terrible tariff. It almost makes me glad to live in rip off Britain!

It is important to factor in the cost of unlimited data via the network and the cost of whatever Wifi deal is included - When I apply this to my iPhone contract
£35
-£6.99 for the cloud access
-£7.50 Web & Walk (although there is no 1 or 3GB limit

= £20.51

....Which I agree is not brilliant for 200 Mins / 200 sms - but is not terrible either

I'd guess Germany's contracts are in line with national trends too

but how much are you (or others) going to use the cloud? For a lot of people it wont be convenient.

IMO the whole point of a mobile is so that you can use it where ever, and this is where I feel we've been let down by the iphone's capabilities. If wi-fi was available everywhere, then great, but it's not and to have to fall back on to edge (if you're lucky) is a drawback.

I cannot make my way around the German T-Mobile website http://www.t-mobile.de/privat

Although - I found an English page on there and it seems they get quite attractive propositions from T-Mobile DE, possibly better than here http://www.t-mobile.de/calling_plans

So maybe the iPhone plan is the most punitive that they have. One has to wonder why, unless Apple have made it hard for them to make very much out of the deal apart from 5-years worth of Kudos!
