Hi Everyone,

My N95 is rapidly gonig down the pan and I need help.

I am getting a message saying that I need to delete stuff from my phone as there is not enough memory to accept or send and text messages. However there is nothing left to delete!

When it first appeared I cleared out the inbox and sent items, it worked again for about 50 texts then the message was back.

Then I deleted all the game demos and it worked again for a little while before the message was back!

I have deleted everything I can find from the phone memory and every time I get to send a few messages before it stops working again. Always asking for me to delete phone memory.

I have now run out of things to delete and my phone is now useless! I have put a call in to Nokia Tech support but was stuck in the que too long to speak to somebody! I then emailed them, but have not heard back. I am going back to the shop that sold it to me at the weekend, but I really can imagine them either fixing it or replacing it! Oh and I cancelled the insurance about a month ago :(

I am running Firmware version 11-something. Great I have opened the phone to check the firmware and now its crashed!!!

Please can someone help me, I am desperate

Update to v12 ASAP, as it's a lot better. But also go into Messages -> Options -> SIM Messages & see if there's anything in there. A mate was getting the same message last week, and his Orange SIM had loads of messages on it from his previous phone which was causing him problems.

I dont have any messages on the sim card.

I cant have firmware v12 yet as I am on Vodafone and I dont believe it is available yet.

If it is available on Vodafone please let me know how to get it!

Have you used the Nokia Software Update program? http://europe.nokia.com/softwareupdate

Back up to your memory card before trying to update. I'd recommend allowing the application to reinstall your current firmware if no new firmware is available.

Hope that helps!

From the mainscreen hit the menu key, then press left soft key for options, scroll down to memory details and select phone, this should tell you how much memory you have free and how the memory is being used, hopefully this will give you an idea of whats happening. Also if you've used any of the online video services slide your media keys open on the main screen and select Video Center, in here open the folder called My Videos and check there isn't anything in it, if there is delete anything you don't need. :)

I dont seem to have a video centre? I looked in the gallery instead as that where my videos go, but it said there wasnt enough memory to open the gallery and just went back to the media menu.

I had a look at the phone memory and it said this:
147 MB - Memory in use
0B - Free Memory
11 kB - Calendar
26 kB - Contacts
37 kB - Messages
0 B - Images
0 B - Sounds files
0 B - Video clips
0 B - Documents
0 B - MIDP apps

Does thi sgive anyone any ideas?

Not me... :( I still strongly recommend backing up and using the Nokia Software Updater.

I've done it!!!!! :D

I found out if I turn the phone off, then back on again while holding in "green", "*", and "3" it performs some kind of all conquering reset!

I have lost everything that wasnt saved on my memory card including my wifes phone number! But at least I can start using it again :)

Soon I will post a thread asking for how I can make the most of my N95

Cheers to everyone who has been trying to help me

E.B.

Grats, glad that sorted it. Remember for the future - always back up to your memory card before doing anything like that!

Reinstalling your software via the NSU would have done roughly the same thing.

The good old 3 button salute has saved me a fair few times over the years. Like Ben says though always backup your phone memory where possible. :)
