View Full Version : N65 -> N95 ?

Well, I have just taken out a contract on X Series Gold with 3. I am very happy with the deal and even get a free Slingbox.
I could have had an N95 on T-Mobile but as I will be using the phone in Ireland and Italy in the summer, I want to use the Three "like home" facility.

Another reason is I am already with T-mobile and reception here in N wales is patchy at the best of times

I took the Nokia E65 phone - -not my ideal choice but then I got thinking...After speaking to the salesman, he did state that the N95 should be available after testing and this fits in with what has been discussed on this ste. BUT, If I later go and purchase an unlocked N95, and, assuming that the X Series features do become out on the N95, I presume I will be able to download the appropriate software from 3/Planet site and have the X series features on the N95.

I could then sell the E65 to defray the expense og the N95.
Hope I made my self clear
any comments?

Welcome to talk3g.co.uk...

Quite a few things to consider.

1. The cost of 3 unlocking your E65 would be prohibitive (£115).

2. It is not known for certain if 3 UK will support the N95 at all.

3. Not all of the x-series applications/services work on all handsets. Only the discontinued N73 has ticks in all the boxes on 3's website checklist.

4. There are some exclusions and limits when using x-series in non-uk 3 service areas. Best to clarify the up to date allowances on 3's website before using the phone heavily abroad. Also keep an eye on the display as if the phone roams to a non-3 network data rates are punitive.

If you are a regular user in the countries you mention the 'like home' deal should save you lot. Best of luck with your new phone.

Many thanks for the useful comments

Fortunately for me the E65 ticks all the boxes at present

Nokia e60 works fine on x-series, and 3 never offered that handset.
