T-Mobile launched free weekend, evening and landline calls today, rivalling O2's Long Weekends deal.
Customers signing up to Flext 20, Flext 25 or Flext 30 will get free weekend calls between midnight on Friday and midnight on Sunday to UK mobile and landline numbers. They will get up to 5,000 minutes a month to use on free calls.
Those signing up to Flext 35, Flext 50 and Flext 75 will also get free evening calls to UK mobiles and unlimited calls to UK landlines. Evening calls are between Monday to Friday from 7pm to midnight. Customers signing up to these tariffs will get 10,000 minutes to use on free calls. The offer will run up until 31 August.
The deal challenges O2's Long Weekends, which gives its customers free calls to UK mobiles and landlines starting with 01, 02 and 03 every Saturday, Sunday and Monday. They get a maximum of 2000 minutes and it is only eligible for customers signing up to tariffs that are at least £35 a month.
Dealers have said T-Mobile's deal will harm their sales, as it is only available direct. 'It's going to affect us big time because customers will ask for free weekend calls and we can't give it to them.'
