Offered here for what its worth. Use but do not abuse the technology.
Started by the kids, Bluejacking can have huge potential in aspects such as advertising. Imagine "Eat at Joe's this Friday for £1" or suchlike.
A neat little app for S40 and S60 handsets is Easy-Jack V2 which is completely free. Download it and the registration details at the website http://www.easy-jack.co.uk The free registration code is on the homepage.
This app not only allows the user to send to individual "discovered" handsets but can also be set into "Auto Jack" mode where it will send a bluejack message to any bluetooth handset that comes within its range. The recipient, as always, can accept or reject the message.
Messages can be composed as Contacts (the usual method) or as a text file which is less compatible but has space for more text to be transmitted.
As an advertising tool it could be something cool to use - I could envisage one or two Easy-Jack-equippped troops walking around the town centre advertising the latest Rave, some local Village Fete or other event in the local area. The potential applications for this are only limited by the imagination.
If you do find a useful application for this technology or know of some, please post your comments and observations on here for others to see.
