Orange added 475,000 UK customers in 2006, up 3.2% on the previous year.
But UK revenues for 2006 increased by just 0.4% to 5.8bn (£3.8bn) on a comparable basis, with a strong first quarter increase of 4.9% wiped out by revenue declines later in the year.
Annual revenue per user slumped from £263 at the beginning of 2006 to £257 at the end of the year.
At the end of 2006, Orange had 15.3 million customers, of which 5 million were on a contract.
Parent company France Telecom reported full year revenues of 51.7bn (£34.2bn), an increase of 7.5% year-on-year and 1.2% on a comparable basis, and a 15% increase in mobile customers to 97.6 million. Its gross operating margin rate fell 1.4 points to 35.9%.
France Telecom chairman and CEO Didier Lombard said: '2006 was marked by the Group's renewal, including the transfer of our operations under the Orange brand, both in Europe and elsewhere. In addition, the success of our new convergence offers and the enhanced content we are offering on broadband, mobiles and TV is today a reality.'
The business increased its mobile broadband users from 1.6 million in 2005 to 5.8 million in 2006.
