Samsung and LG appear to have yielded market share to Sony Ericsson in 2006. The scrappy handset maker has really been going for it with the Walkman range of handsets, and I know from my own past research that SE's popularity with the teenage bracket is second only to Nokias.
SE averaged 7.3% market share, after starting the year at 5.9% and ending at 8.7%. Samsung, on the other hand, fell from 12.8% to 10.7% - a long overdue fall from grace in my own personal opinion. SE actually moved ahead of Samsung in terms of revenue, by around $300m.
Nokia and Motorola saw no big changes despite neither, IMHO, having anything particularly strong going for them.
