O2.co.uk have realised their browser-snubbing stupidity... almost.
When flashing up messages to people using browsers other than Internet Explorer and forcing them off of your website went out of fashion some time in the late 1990's, O2.co.uk's web design monkeys were either away on holiday or still in their mothers wombs. They do appear to be learning, however.
For the first time in quite a long time I can actually browse O2.co.uk. Rather than being forced off the website I am now told that my browser is out of date and that it is recommended I upgrade. However, I can click cancel and continue to browse without being pushed to some yonks-old Netscape page.
What ungodly browser must I be using? Well, I use Camino from Mozilla, basically the same guts as Firefox but better integrated into OS X. I note that O2.co.uk do recognise Safari and Firefox as capable browsers.
So, when will O2 look at it's website stats and realise that nobody actually uses the 'old' breed of browsers anymore and the annoying code is unnecessary? Probably at about the same time they look at the website itself and realise how shockingly poor it is.
