Hi, welcome to Talk3G.

Where are you getting MSN from? The version on my N73 is from mess.be. Also, is your firmware branded to any particular network?

What network are you on? If you're on Orange then you'll pay data charges. If you're on Three then I assume free MSN comes as part of a contract bundle with a Three branded handset - the alternative, I assume, is to buy a Three data bundle to allow you to connect.

Ah a common problem. The H3G certificate that is inbuilt to the 3 network software is needed to run the MSN app. Yes you get it free but only on an authorised 3 handset. As your handset currently has either the orange or generic firmware on it (cant tell which you you said) it wont run. You need the 3 branded firmware to run the app.

Looks like that update was a bad idea, howard38lancs. In any case, Three's service offering is so brand centric that I would always recommend using a Three branded device on their network.

If he did a backup to memory card then it would likely contain all his personal details too, like contacts and messages. Backups may even be restricted to the handset they were made on, but if he's cool to give it a try then let us know how you get on. I'd advise backing up your own handset to your own memory card first ;)

They'd probably tell you you'd voided your warranty - can't you get it flashed back to Three's software in the same way you had it flashed to Orange?

I'd advise waiting for him. Why on earth did he rebrand it to Orange in the first place?
