Is it possible to unlock (maybe I mean debrand??) a Sony Ericsson V630i which is only issued by Vodafone and appears to be locked to their network in the UK? I have a bundled minutes contract with Vodafone in Italy and thought the handset would work here but it does not. Would really appreciate any advice anyone has to offer.

It should be easy enough to find a local unlock (the smaller mobile phone shops often do this or have someone who can,locally). You need it "Unlocked" not de-branded, then it should work okay with the Italian Vodafone SIM.
