From Mobile Today (16/08/2006):
Dealers have claimed that 3 is calling customers and upgrading them early.
Many dealers told Mobile that the network is contacting customers on 12-month contracts as early as month nine or ten to offer them an upgrade.
One dealer said: 'We are not getting as many upgrade customers coming in. 3 said they only do it if the customer calls them, but they aren't because they have phoned us twice to upgrade [without knowing who we are].'
3 declined to comment on whether it was calling customers early, but confirmed it would upgrade high-value customers at month ten. A 3 spokesman said: 'It's fairly standard stuff. It's done on a case by case basis.' He added: 'We want to work with dealers who give us good customers and help us retain them.'
