I've discovered that T-Mobile, after being asked about the exclusion of IM from their ridiculously cheap datacard plan, may be releasing an IM-abled product. I'd expect this would arrive near the HSDPA launch in August and I can only hope that the premium for mobile IM would be at most a couple of pounds. The permitted use of VoIP is unlikely.
IM is a massive tool for business, and T-Mobile's quick response to their shortcoming may well be just in time. I'd also imagine they'll scour the current crop of datacard customers for IM users and bump them up to a more expensive tariff! We'll see ;)
