Hi all,
Well after sending my Motorola Vodafone 3G PHONE back. I'm looking for a decent model of 3G phone now......
Now, I see lot's of people seem to be going on about the N80, looks good. Any personal experiences?
I already have a contract but want 3G!! Do I have to get my SIM upgraded for it to work in a 3G phone?
I see you can buy the N80 Here:
http://www.mphone.co.uk/acatalog/n80_sim_free.html
for £425.
Any better sites or better options...? eBay have then for under £400 but not sure if I can trust eBay for this amount of money....
Look forward to hearing from you
Glen.

I've had a play witht the handset on O2 actually, it's a superb bif of kit. The screen and camera are excellent. There's no comparison to the offerings Moto have had recently, I really don't think you'll go wrong if you do choose to get a n80. It's a lot of cash to part with if you do go down the SIM free road, either eBay or by some other means, it might be worth waiting a few weeks to see if it comes down in price.
As far as I'm aware O2 are able to activate your current SIM to access 3G services, it's just a case of contacting them. As far as their coverage is concerned I don't think it's as wide spread as Three, Orange or Vodafone, however if you do make the move to O2 3G you can keep us informed of your experiences!

It's a fantastic phone, but is quite different, even from the 6680 which I had before.
Wifi and everything works fantastically although it does have a few glitches which I suppose were to be expected to begin with.
I started a thread about my N80 but it can't find it at the mo (has it been deleted, admin?)
I have, however, just broke mine by trying to flash it (see other thread) so I'm a bit miffed.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to wait until next week when O2 have them in. They said although I was half way through my contract they could do a 'special deal' for existing customers....
I'll let you know what "the deal" is..... :-)

Having had my N80 for almost a week now, I can say without doubt that this is an excellent phone.
After reading about the 'poor' battery life, I made sure to give mine a really good 16 hour charge on the first day. Whether I needed to do this is open to debate, but I was actually away for the day and forgot it was still charging! Anyway, after it had fully discharged after a couple of days use I let it charge over night and am still waiting for the second discharge. If I continue to get two days of proper use out of the battery I will be happy.
I have setup a wlan access point for my house and that works fine, although still getting to grips with the new browser. I've added mlock and allocated that to the top right soft key, a useful app in my opinion. I've also added a 2gb card and a crystal case. Sound quality is very good, the speaker is much louder than the 6680.
Just a quick word on it's size. I think the size is pretty good, just a bit thick, but overall a nice fit in the palm of my hand and doesn't add bulk to my trouser pocket. Also the keypad is wonderful, it feels really solid and is possibly the best keypad I've ever had on a phone.
Now to the camera. This will never win any awards and is poor, but have a play with the settings and learn how to use it and you will get some reasonable shots, but this is not a digital camera killer.
Did I buy it for the camera? No, did I buy it for the S60 OS, wlan, fm radio, mp3 player etc yes and it does all of those very well.

It sounds like you bought the perfect phone for your requirements and I agree with the points you have made. I do think it's a shame that Nokia didn't spend an extra few pounds on better camera optics and a door-activated memory card eject.
What software version do you have?

I nearly took out a Three contract with N80, luckily my CVV2 has worn away on my debit card to stop me taking out this this contract. If the handset was available on T-mobile I'd pay up my orange contract and port on to t-mobile.
When I'm at work, it takes a lot of will power not to tell people who have just taken out Vodafone contracts, to cancel and go with t-mobile, it's a shame they're not as up-to-date with handsets as other networks, or else T-mobile would have free reign.

Vodafone does, of course, have it's benefits over T-Mobile. Stop The Clock and Passport are both features of the service that are attractive to some, as are far more extensive content offerings particularly comprehensive Mobile TV.
If only price were the only consideration!
I agree that you've been lucky WRT your CVV2 code though, I don't consider now a particularly good time to buy unless you're after a K800i.

This time round I put in more research for the 'perfect' contract for me and in the end I paid for a handset for the first time ever and am on a tariff that I was on two years ago. Go figure! I just couldn't sign up for an 18 month contract and understandably that is where all the 'value' contracts are to be had. Now if one of the main players introduces a really good 12 month tariff they could attract sales that only t-mobile have seen of late.
