This is a story of my time with 3. It all started back in December when 1 day went into The Link and came out with a V3x on VT&T700... fine so far. However i soon started to wish i had gone for a N70 so i swapped it over... again fine so far.

Now this is where the problems started!.

Downloaded the TV app fine and it said £10 for 30 days to i accepted and ran it no problems. 3 days later it would not open so i phoned CS and asked them what should i do. They said to uninstall the app and download it again. I asked well will i be charged for this to which they said no.

Uninstalled..... downloaded..... yep you guessed it, i was charged again!. Back on the phone to CS and they said it will be credited to my next bill but i need to pay the £51.05 first for them to give me the £10 back (Should have only been £41.05),

I needed an intel iMac so sold the phone and kept the contract running and used it in a LG 8120 i had lying around.

So now on to the last 3 weeks and they have been a nightmare!. Ben will agree im sure because i have been having a right go about 3 to him via texts ;) :p :D.

Texts not getting through, error messages when browsing, calls not connecting or dropping all the time and a bad screeching noise during 1 call.

Yesterday i had to send people 3 texts of the same message to make sure they got through and the calls were dropping nearly all the time.

Today was the last straw!. In town where i normally get very good signal i was getting NO signal AT ALL!. Not a single bar of coverage and then all of a sudden after 2hrs i was getting 2G but no trace of 3G anywhere.

So i will be phoning 3 to cancel my contract because i just want out of it now. I will either go on Vodafone or Orange with PAYG because they offer good deals that are flexible for my needs. If i only want to topup £5 i can and seing as i get sent many review phones to use there is no point me running a contract.

So long 3

What version of the firmware have you in the 8120? Anything less than v105 or v105+ will cause you problems with that model. I've got three 8120s with 105+ on them and they don't miss a beat on either 3 or other network SIMs.

Edit: It is not very satisfying to see that the 3 "Customer Service" (sic) experience is as atrocious as ever. I really wish 3 would get that sorted out - it costs so much in terms of bad publicity, Customer disaffection and overall generate the ridiculous levels of churn that 3 experience, needlessly in my opinion. Give me six unfettered months in 3 and I'd have their CS sorted out completely.

If they had people in charge who knew what people wanted that would be a start. Better CS, open data access and thats just the begining!

You are using a LG U8120, and you wonder why you have problems

Seriously, there are no significant problems with the U8120, providing the software is the last version released (hardware problems notwithstanding). Earlier softwares were, to be kind, completly dire!

I have never been with with 3 and doubt I ever will be only because of what I've heard about their customer services. Which is a shame because 3 is the only network that has 3g coverage in my area.

Well, I have heard things have improved on 3 with every single new phone they have launched.

Fact is I meet lots of contacts at work and some have 3 and report the same problems now that I experienced over 30 months with them using 5 different handsets..

Call me sceptical but having tasted cream I dont intend to revert to skimmed milk.

Nuff Said!
