View Full Version : Voice calling set up times getting silly

Is it just me or has the time it takes to set up a Voice call become somewhat extended of late? I'm talking about Voice calls to UK landlines (BT and Telewest to name but two tha tI can put a finger on).

I have noticed that it can take upwards of a full minute from pressing the handset's Call button before getting ringtone. Sometimes, more often than ever before, the call fails - well I get fed up waiting - and has to be retried. There is no indication of failure, just no ringtone after a protracted wait.

Using my other handset (Vodafone) to place a call to the same number results in an almost instantaneous ringtone!

This puts the issue directly in 3's ballcourt - perhaps they're having congestion or other troubles with their interconnect with the networks? Who knows for sure.

But it is getting quite annoying and more reproducable of late.

Edit:
Just ran a test with my 3 and Vodafone handsets. Out of 10 calls to a Telewest landline Vodafone beat 3 exactly 10 times - i.e. 10 out of 10 to Vodafone! The setup times on the 3 handset varied from several seconds longer to at least 30 seconds longer in a couple of instances! No calls via 3 failed, on this occasion.
