View Full Version : I'm Leaving 3!!

Well, the other night I finally reached month 11 of my contract with 3 and picked up the phone to give my 30 days notice.

I was put through to the Indian call centre, I'm guessing as it was at night, and the lady tried her best to keep me with them.

Basically what she offered me was:
- A free handset upgrade
- 3 months half price line rental on a 12 month contract, or 6 months half price line rental on an 18 month contract
- or, (and I don't get this one) - if I increased my tariff by £5 a month I would be entitled to an 'extended choice' of upgrade handsets, more than I would normally be entitled to.

Ermm... surely, if I cancelled the contract I could get any of these 'extended choice' handsets anyway? lol. I asked her what the handsets were, but in her own words 'I don't know'. Indeed!! Pathetic I say.

Well I told her there and then that this conversation was to be notice of my 30 day intention. She said she would get someone (ie Glasgow) to ring me back the next day, and asked what time would be convenient. I said about 10am, she said someone would ring me that hour.

Well, 2 days later, and as you may have expected no one has rang me. As far as I'm concerned I've given my 30 days notice to an employee of 3, but I'd bet anything it won't have counted as I haven't given it to the Glasgow people.

Three examples of bad CS in this: they didn't ring back, they couldn't tell me what the upgrade handsets were (including the 'extended choice' handsets for the extra fee), and the fact that that is a really stupid offer anyway. Well I've given them my notice anyway.

Well, at least they tried to offer you something. You are going to need to call back to check it got cancelled though :( When I cancelled mine, after the 12 months were up (almost to the day), my handset was disconnected from Three the moment the call ended! BUT then it took me 8 months to get the money back they'd taken for line rental I didn't use ;)

Oo - So! Where are you headed now? Any big mobile plans?

Lol, yeh I'm gonna be getting the 6680 when it comes out on Orange, which can't come soon enough! I'm liking the look of the online tariffs, which are better value than in the shops - £25 gets 120 minutes and 250 texts, which actually works out cheaper than 3!!

I will give 3 a ring back, in the daytime, to confirm that the contract will end.

Oh yeh, nearly forgot to say (for anyone who's interested) that I posted this on 'another' 3g forum, and was deleted within half an hour by their admin for 'being too opinionated'!! I was merely stating the facts, and putting my opinion across of the issue at stake. I'm glad to see that approach is not being taken here - I think I may move over here full time!

Are 3 advertising the 6630 on their site?

I know they are subsidising it via the dealers - is it another 7600 (secret unofficial) phone?

Why dont they just treat this like all the others they promote? Stands to reason if they are subsidising it they approve of its use on their network..... so why not include it in the official range? In Australia they feature all models...oh and have Internet access too....

3 Uk really know how to make a mess of things - dont they?

Yep, when it comes to certain things, they certainly do

I know how you feel - it can be very frustrating watching their antics.

I think Three and O2 are personally being quite mental! Three are offering the 6630 on a £9.99 contract ! So whats to stop people buying the contract and taking the phone over to O2 and getting 3G services activated when they are avaiable!?

I think im tempted to do it now! what do u guys think?

Well, I guess you'd need to find a use for the Three contract you'd have entered into. Then you'd need to actually get the 6630 unlocked - I'm not sure if that's possible at the moment due to Nokia's new thingy (DCT5, now?) :(

Voda are able to unlock 6630s because I got my unlock code the other day from them via email that I requested 38 days ago, but because I have had a replacement handset it does not work lol. May be your provider might do this

Three charge £115 within contract to unlock your phone, so that would be a bad idea inregards to using 3Uk for a handset bargain.

Nokia's BB5 has been cracked. There are boxes on sale now such as http://www.gsmserver.com/software/JAFbox.php and so you can expect to find people out there who can unlock your 6630 and other BB5 handsets as they come out. The competition is fierce in the unlocking arena so don't expect to pay much more than £5 - £10 to have an unlock done by the privateers.

I recently had an LG U8120 unlocked and reflashed to V105+ for just under £8 all in from a lad on eBay (if anyone wants details just holler).
