Although a dated article, it is interesting to observe that the discussion has barely moved along since publication (May 2005).
Mobile television is the closest the cellular industry has come to the elusive "killer application" for 3G or so it hopes. Broadcast television to the handset has been the most talked-about application this year, and some operators, such as Sprint with MobiTV, already offer limited services. But the consumer appeal and the suitability of the medium is almost wholly unproven ......................

Now that 3 UK are also offering MobiTV (without branding as Orange did with OTV) we are able to see how little progress has been made. Five months on and still only one provider via the mobile handset (3G or otherrwise).
TV to the handset is coming one way or the other - what we are seeing at present are the first faltering footsteps. Perhaps to paraphrase a certain Mr Neil Armstrong "Thats one small step for the viewer; one giant leap for viewerkind". Okay, perhaps a bit melodramatic but its coming as sure as eggs is eggs :D
Just, for now, it really is too little, too soon - I reckon.
