What is it with 3....?
They have the biggest lump of 3G bandwidth in the UK of all networks yet my mobile is failing to make calls due to 'network busy'.
With just over 3 million customers how can this be when bandwidth poorer GSM networks with 15 million on them can happily make calls.
Can someone please explain?

You must honestly be the unluckiest 3 user in the history of 3, seriously I feel sorry for you. If I had the amount of problems you have been having for years with a network I would have dumped them at the first opportunity. I do applaud your perserverance and I sincrely hope 3 sorts all of it's many problems out so you can become a satisfied 3 customer like me.

Your local mast is pish, 3GSU! Write to the executive office about it, it's not that bad everywhere - they'd have no users!

I think the short and sweet answer 3GSU would be to keep away from Three fullstop if they cant provide you with the service you want.

Do you think it is possible to have a 3G cell site maxed out? I know I live near Glasgow Airport and had some issues with Orange re network congestion a few years back but AFAIK my local 3 cell site is'nt one which is in range of Glasgow Airport, in fact in a town of 20,000 3 have got 3 cell sites so I assume that should be more than adequate.
PS By the end of October it will no longer be a concern as I have my termination notice posted!

I have been using my 3 mobile extensively this evening to make voice calls with friends and clients (got some inclusive minutes to use up). Including one extensive call which started out on the road and lasted a full 55 minutes uninterrupted for the entire journey and when I got home, moving around the joint.
I do rather think [3GSU] that you've very definitely got the pooey end of the stick with 3's 3G in your area. Even day one with 3 (03/03/03) I never had such bad trouble as you've had throughout.

I guess it's possible. Perhaps the link between your mast and other masts in the area is heavily congested or there's a very long path of microwave backhaul between you and wherever the calls are switched.
You really should write to the exec. office about it, I doubt it'd get relayed by Mumbai! Bleubean is right though, now your contract is up it'd be a good idea to stay away from 3 for a good while and concentrate on Vodafone where you have a higher quality of local network.

Aha, anecdote time.
Earlier this year, I reported a local transmitter fault to 3 via their eMail (
[email protected] iirc). It was not collaborating in the cell-to-cell handoff. As one approached the mast, as soon as it was visible to the naked eye, the call would get cut off!!! All of this is documented somewhere on Talk3G. But, to cut a longish story short, after a short exchange of emails with them they sorted the problem out completely. It only took a few days. Since then calls survive the journey towards, through and away from that particular transmitter. So, they do appear to take note of reports. But I would advise emailing the report rather than trying to get it through Mumbai.
