Orange pulls rug on downgraders

Deal seekers who opt for a high-value tariff then downgrade will have to look elsewhere from next week.
Orange is to change the terms and conditions of its Premier tariff from 1 October to prevent downgrades in the first year.
Premier tariffs were designed to attract and retain high-spending customers but have been targeted by cashback retailers that have used the high-commission and generous terms to subsidise aggressive pricing. Typically, customers attracted to these deals downgrade their tariffs at the earliest opportunity, six months into the terms of a contract.
The move is Oranges latest move to close loopholes exploited by retailers and deal seekers that have no intention of maintaining a high-value contract.
So... I think this has to be a good thing in the long run - you buy Orange Premier and you stick with it for 12 months. It's rough on those who genuinely need to change though, and I hope Orange will a) look favourably on those with financial difficulties before the 12 months is over and b) properly advise new Orange Premier customers.
