View Full Version : 'My 3' Video download problems

Been trying to view some of the new video downloads on the 'My 3' services section. I can select a video then it changes display and allows a select video option, but then when you hit the 'play' button an error message appears with 'connection lost' :(

I dont get it really as its packet data!!! If it loses some it should simply just request the packets again.

Very frustrating and off-putting when one considers that if one had selected a chageable video you have to pay for it wheather you get it or not. The 3 policy lets you try for 20 minutes but in reality after a few attempts one tires of reloading the pages.

Manged to get a couple of videos today but on 'Quickplay' there was lots of buffering, pixilation and interuption. Not worth the bother really.

I have come to the conclusion that 'Quickplay' is only worthwhile if you have a very stable 3 signal and even then the download option is preferable. (Some handsets only support Quickplay sadly).

Has anyone else had similar experience of 3 vdeo download problems lately?

Is it the 7600 you're trying on? Might be worth trying the next time you know for definite you're in a different coverage cell... yours sucks!

I wish I could try myself but 3 don't allow my Z1010 to download anything.

This past week, I have had sporadic problems using Quickplay for News - the player was not able to connect with 3's server. However, it was able to connect to the server that holds their Music Video content (I tried immediately to see if the problem was more general). For several days last week their news video server has had such connectivity problems.

Agree re the stable 3G signal - although Quickplay is useful if you just want a single shot of the video file. Otherwise you've got the bother of having to locate it in your phone and deleting it to preserve the phone's memory (not a problem on handsets that allow you to store the content on removable memory aka the 6680).

All other video content on 3 has been readily accessible in Norf Kent (p'raps you should move darn here where the signal is as tall as the wheat - oooh arrrr).

My signal is a bit iffy and always has been but I have shifted about a bit and have had similar problems in Glasgow.

Quickplay is not ideal I suspect and I would not pay to get anything via that option.

I like the idea of quickplay/streaming for free content, but paid content surely needs to be downloaded unless the download is part of an unlimited bundle. I used to stream the sky news clips from Orange World, but now I download and play them through Sky Mobile. It'd be good if Sky Mobile implemented streaming, but it looks after deleting downloads for you so it's not too much of a worry.

*also thinks 3GSU should move to Kent :P*

Hi mate

I think you will find the reason you cannot download and save vids on you 7600 is that the phone is not capable of doing that, due to rubbish design spec.

Newer, proper 3g handsets will allow you this facility (any LG, Moto E1000, Nokia 6680, Sony Ericsson).

Are you not due for a "new" phone? I would say try the LG8360 (in black, if you can get it) or Nokia 6680. You should be very impressed.

I don't think the 7600 is a bad phone, but it is indeed not one that supports a lot of Three's features.

3SellerNW - do you know if there's any way I can get my Sony Ericsson Z1010 working on Three again? I used to be able to browse (though not use video content) but at least I could check My3. I was using the LG HutchKey. Now it just downloads a picture of the 3 logo or gives me an error, even if I use other HutchKeys like the k608 one, which means I can't check my balance or top up using My3 anymore :( It's a shame really, I liked being able to use 3 from time to time to guage the coverage improvements in my area and check out new services - I don't want to go back to the e606!

It only happened the other week :\ most strange!

Hi mate

Sorry, I don't deal with questions about unlocked phones, as I don't use or support unlocking.

I can understand you not wanting to go back to the 606! Why not buy a second hand E1000, or LG8130 or something, or try a contract 8360 / 6680 on 14 day trial. The phones / network have come on a great deal since the 606 days.

Have decided to move on and have now contracted with an integrated GSM/UMTS network with a lovely Samsung Z500. Its gota all one could want and is small and light. Great as a modem too.

Happily no dropped calls since I got this in July and very clear reception too. I am happy to report that I now have a very different perception of 3G technology and presently have 3 3G handsets on 3 different 3G networks, but that will soon reduce to 2 which is more than enough for anyone!

Cheers, just a thought now we've got you here! I'm good for handsets right now which is why I wanted to keep using the Z1010, but it's not too much of a big deal. Why do networks have to meddle!
