Trusted Reviews is one of my favourite sites on the ol' interweb, so I was intrigued a few days ago to see "Coming soon: Orange Mobile Office Card" given that they'd already reviewed it some time ago and come to the conclusion that it was utterly pants and to be avoided.

However, today we are spoiled with a review of a new Orange datacard offering. The new Orange 3G datacard is manufacturered by the boys that make the highly-acclaimed Vodafone 3G connect card - Option. It also includes 802.11g. I'd rather it didn't given that almost all laptops now have wireless capability, and this is mentioned in the review, but it does highlight that this is a far superior offering compared to the original.

Trusted Reviews reviewer Riyad Emeran also points out that the software actually works now. Those signal bars aren't static, they actually change as you move around, and you can even send a text message while remaining connected to the Internet!

There's no real price incentive to go Orange at this time though. Their datacard rates aren't very impressive. However, Orange's efforts to rectify this blunder do need to be recognised and I'm pleased that, given their expansive coverage, they now have a credible mobile data solution on the market.

I myself am having a wale of a time using my 6680 as a 3G modem on Orange. It works so well that all thoughts of a datacard are, for now, banished.

Read the review over at Trusted Reviews (http://www.trustedreviews.com/article.aspx?art=1856) - Enjoy!

Edit: Orange are currently selling both cards, it would seem. You can find out more here: http://www.orange.co.uk/business/corporate/office/moc/3g_mobile_office_card.html (thanks Riyad!)

lol, I hate to break it to you Jon old boy, but it's the same review ;) Trusted Reviews often supply their reviews to The Register.
