Hi I have both of these phones and am really disappointed that neither work on the 3 network.

Where can I find a list of compatible phones so that I know the next one I buy WILL work?!

Thanks guys

Hi jimblob, welcome to Talk3G.

You must use a 3G phone on the 3 network. Both the V3 and V220 are 2.5G GSM phones.

A comprehensive list of 3G phones can be found here: https://talk3g.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=12

Just to flesh this out a bit also (and please excuse me if I'm telling you something you already know) .......... If you're specifically after a 3G handset that will work with the 3 network you need to be aware that unless it is Unlocked it may not allow you to access the 3 network. Not a problem when 3 were the only 3G network but others are now out and their [SP Locked] handsets are in circulation in the likes of eBay.

You'll also need 3's specific settings for the handset, including their homepage for the particular handset (these vary from handset to handset!). These you may need to key into the "new" handset manually. But you may also find that the handset's operator branding may have locked you out of certain menus to prevent you doing precisely this. So I'd suggest doing a bit of research on the handset in question first before splashing out the cash. More and more, it seems, the mobile operators are locking down their supplied handsets using increasingly hard branding of the handset. The only solution in some cases being to get the handset put back to it's factory "generic" state by a full re-flash of the firmware.

Staring into my crystal ball :) I predict the future could be bright for the Unlocking/De-Branding community.
